Overall, the book provided a solid foundation for understanding self-esteem, confidence, and motivation in young children. We have a six year old that we believe is very gifted. However, in public school it seemed that her confidence was not being built up. To the contrary, it seemed that she would come home every day less interested and less confident about learning. This book helped us better understand some of the factors that were impacting her self-esteem and confidence in learning. At any rate, me and my wife decided to put our daughter in Montessori school this year. She has only been in her new school for one week and we have already seen a marked difference. Her confidence level and enthusiasm for learning has returned. The book also provides some really nice strategies for parents to reinforce confidence and improve motivation at home.

The only negative is that the book is very thin (only about 50 or so pages) and is written in large type. I guess they are also trying to boost parents' confidence.
