She has developed a different language for therapists to learn: the language of trauma survivors' unresolved pain narratives. By observing a client's self-destructive acts, we are able to bear witness to their invisible internal pain.

Her de-pathologized strength-based approach outlines techniques for the therapist to help clients maintain a sense of self-control, to learn self-soothing techniques and to maintain a level of internal comfort for themselves. Her method clearly eliminates the `glass ceiling' and the possibility of having `power struggles' with the clients.

The strength-based approach not only works for clients working through their pain narratives but also proves to be effective for therapists when counter-transferential material gets triggered or when one needs additional support in a session.
