Sampling Essentials: Practical Guidelines for Making Sampling Choices Review

I purchased this book after coming across chapter 5 of the text on the web that Sage had made available for review. The funny thing is that it was the exact chapter that I needed at the moment to assist in generating a more detailed response to a question. I can say that out of ALL the research methods books I have read and skimmed over the last 2 to 3 years, this is by far the best out of the lot.

As an example, even with the most complex technical references I have on hand for statistics and research, this is the only one that goes that extra mile in sharing the various types/categories of simple random or systematic random sampling. The way the text is written, it blows the dust off every corner you may have from prior statistics courses, as well as turning on a light for things that you somehow just missed or were never told. He goes in to explain things in a way that can only be described as a good late night juicy gossip conversation with one your best pals.

I know there is a new release of this book scheduled later this year, but after going through this free chapter I couldn't wait.
